North Whitman County Volunteer Firefighters And Farmers Quickly Contain Field Fire Near Thornton
THORNTON - North Whitman County volunteer fire departments with help from farmers quickly contained a field fire near Thornton late Thursday afternoon. The blaze broke out near Elmer Huntley Road around 5:30. Whitman County Fire District 7 Volunteers out of Rosalia quickly responded with assistance from District 11 from Steptoe and District 2 from St. John. Firefighters were helped by local farmers who plowed around the flames to quickly contain the fire to about 25 acres. The fire burned mostly stubble and some standing grain.

Man arrested after pointing gun at person at East Wenatchee business
EAST WENATCHEE - On August 1, the East Wenatchee Police Department responded to a reported weapons violation in the 10 block of French Street. The incident began when 68-year-old Pedro Gutierrez-Solorzano and entered Kora Auto Repair and engaged in a heated argument with another customer. (Police did not divulge information about the name of the business involved, info about the business was obtained via Google Maps). During the confrontation, Gutierrez-Solorzano produced a handgun and pointed it at the customer.
