Soap Lake Man Arrested for Causing 57-Acre Fire That Destroyed Homes, Buildings
SOAP LAKE — A 25-year-old resident of Soap Lake, David Teslyuk, has been arrested and charged with first-degree reckless burning in connection with a brush fire that erupted late Tuesday. The fire, which spread over 57 acres, occurred just east of Soap Lake and led to substantial property damage and at least one serious injury. Grant County Fire District 7 confirmed the fire's size due to better mapping.

Fish to blame for 500-acre fire, how they find themselves near power lines
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Benton County Fire Crews have suspected that a fish was to blame for a 500 acre fire that was started near Paterson, Washington on July 30. A charred fish was found near the substation where the fire started, and the Benton PUD even has pictures of, what they suspect to be, the bird who dropped the fish over the substation.
Progress Made on Retreat Fire: Containment Rises to 18%
Firefighters are gaining some ground on the Retreat Fire burning 14 miles southwest of Naches. So far Firefighters say the fire has grown from 29,499 acres on Tuesday to 29,502 today. Containment is also increasing now at 18%. Fire officials say firing operations will resume in multiple locations on the incident, and increased smoke will be very visible for the next several days.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is reporting an active brushfire on Hwy 97, near Beebe State Park. The blaze stands at approx. 40 acres. Per the Orondo Firefighters Association, this is a three-alarm blaze. Traffic control is in place. It is not yet clear which agencies were dispatched to the fire, but as of 1:00 p.m. local time, air support was en route.

Richland, Wash. — A break-in that resulted in several guns stolen took place in Richland early Wednesday morning.
