    OBITUARY: Teresa Cox Bowman

    Teresa Cox Bowman, age 66, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted husband and family on July 10, 2024, at Hospice Haven.

    Teresa was born Feb. 10, 1958 in Rockingham, North Carolina, to the late Bernie and Hazel Cox.

    She spent 27 years of her career at Burlington Industries, where she made lasting friendships and contributed significantly to her community.

    She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time at the beach with her parents, family, and friends. She had a passion for crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that adorned her home and were treasured by her loved ones. She loved fishing and hunting with her husband.

    Teresa was preceded in death by her, parents Bernie and Hazel Cox; sister, Phyllis King; father-in-law, Parker Bowman; and sister-in-law, Gladys Butler.

    Teresa is survived by her loving husband, James Bowman. Together, they shared a lifetime of love and companionship. She was a devoted mother to daughter Amy Bowman (Tony, boyfriend) and son Chris Bowman (Stacy, wife). Teresa adored her grandchildren: Mykaela Bowman (Ali), Brianna Currie, Tiffany Currie, Colby Bowman, Brandi Aaronson, Kristine Aaronson, Evan Bittle and Kierstan Bittle. She also took great pride in her role as great-grandmother to Xavier Bowman, Xayvion Bowman, Violet Bowman, Xander Mughal and Zachary Bowman.

    Also survived by sisters Marie Johnson (Ray), Robin Martin (Joe); mother-in-law Maie Bowman; brothers-in-law Roger King and Sam Butler, sister-in-law Darlene Bowman; and former daughter-in-law Jamie Polson. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family members who will fondly remember her.

    Teresa’s kindness, creativity, and love for her family and friends will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.

    A memorial service to celebrate Teresa’s life will be held at Grace Fellowship Church 217 Midway Road, Rockingham, North Carolina, on Saturday July 13 at non, visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon before the service.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Richmond County Hospice Haven at 1119 U.S. 1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379.
