The heat outside didn’t bother local scouts who came out for some fun at the Rockmart Public Library on Monday.

A fake fire pit and a tent setup in the children’s area created the perfect ambiance for Troop 32 to put on a Campfire Story Time at the library on Monday afternoon, bringing to life the book “When We Go Camping” by Margriet Ruurs.

Youth who participated in Monday’s fun also sang “Fred the Moose,” played Camping Bingo and what would a campfire be without a toasted sweet treat? They made Walking S’mores as well.

Troop 32 has additional plans later this month when the Foundations Christian School hosts their 5K event.

Following that, the Troop is hosting a water bottle rocket event for youth free of charge at the Nathan Dean Sports Complex. The event is set from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will give kids a chance to build and launch water-based bottle rockets from the ball fields.
