Partial skull found at Scriber Lake Park; officials working on ID
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday released information about a partial skull that had been found at Lynnwood’s Scriber Lake Park March 24. Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office Operations Manager Nicole Krueger said that an unhoused man found the skeletonized cranium – the part of the skull that encloses the brain – and brought it to the attention of police. No other remains related to the cranium have been located.
Crabbing season returns to Whatcom County waters

New wildfire forces closure of North Cascades Highway
EASY PASS, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new wildfire forced the closure of the North Cascades Highway on Wednesday, July 17. WSDOT says Highway 20 is closed between mile post 148 at Granite Creek and mile post 158 near Rainy Pass because of the wildfire burning near the roadway there.
Everett firefighters rescue one from a second-alarm apartment fire
EVERETT, WA – On Wednesday night, July 17th, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Everett Fire was dispatched to a medical incident at Northern View Apartments—717 Hawthorne St. The initial dispatch was for a subject who was feeling dizzy after being exposed to a reported failure of a battery in a remote-control car. When firefighters on Aid 2 arrived, they discovered a working apartment fire in a second-floor apartment. The incident was quickly upgraded to request more resources.
American Capital Group, Clarion Form JV for Lynnwood MF Project
American Capital Group and Clarion Partners have created a joint venture to develop Enso, a 316-unit multifamily project in Lynnwood, Washington. Pacific Life Insurance Company served as the construction lender for the development, with construction scheduled to commence in August 2024 and anticipated to reach completion by Summer 2026. “Enso could not come at a more critical time as home ownership has become too costly for many, and capital market dynamics have slowed new multifamily housing starts,” said BJ Kuula, CEO of ACG.

Edmonds Sketchers and Shoreline Watercolor and Sketching are teaming up to fill downtown Edmonds with sketch artists during the Art Walk this Thursday, July 18, from 5-8 p.m. Edmonds plays host this weekend to artists from around the world for Sketcher Fest 2024. Many of those visiting artists will be out and about capturing the evening with their sketches. Most will be in locations along 5th Avenue, including Cafe Louvre, the Hazel Miller Plaza and Main Street. Among the many businesses welcoming artists are Camp Vintage and Graphite (which will also have live music). If you are an artist, bring your art supplies and join the sketchers.
