    PREPS: Hononegah girls thump Rockford East

    ROCKFORD — After struggling to knock off upset-minded Rockford Auburn at home 44-37 on Tuesday night, NIC-10 frontrunner Hononegah barely broke a sweat Wednesday night.

    The Indians thumped host Rockford East 63-18, holding the E-Rabs to just five points in the second half.

    Hononegah (23-3, 14-0 NIC-10) a dozen players score in the rout, led by Jordan Johnston and Allyson Niedfeldt with 11 apiece. The Indians, who have won eight straight this season and 51 conference games in a row, converted 11 from beyond the 3-point arc.

    The Indians, who led 22-5 after the first quarter and 35-13 at halftime, travel to Rockford Boylan on Friday.

    • BELOIT MEMORIAL 74, WILMOT 33: The Purple Knights had four different players score into double-figures as a solid night offensively led to a big Southern Lakes Conference victory over the visiting Panthers on Tuesday.

    Beloit (7-9 overall, 4-4 SLC) has now won three of its last four games and is in fourth place in the SLC. Wilmot (1-16, 0-9) has lost 13-straight games.

    Jocelyn Tibbetts paced the Knights with 22 points as she went 9-for-11 on free throws. Freshman Asharia Koch grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 13 points while Kamille Thomas snatched 11 boards and contributed four points. Jhalia Barber added 11 points and Zeniyah Dumas had 10.

    • BOYS: WATERLOO 74, PARKVIEW 69: The Vikings couldn’t maintain their 32-25 halftime lead as the visiting Bulldogs rallied back for the win on Tuesday night in non-conference action.

    Sophomore Aiden Crane scored 14 points in the first half for Parkview (3-12) and sophomore Oliver Friedrich added nine to put Waterloo (5-11) in the early deficit.

    But senior Benny Marshall scored 24 of his game-high 33 points in the second half to surge the Bulldogs ahead for the win.

    Crane and Friedrich each finished with 19 points while Greyson Cramer and Carter Cronin both added 10.

    • WRESTLING: BRODHEAD/JUDA 45, BIG FOOT/WILLIAMS BAY 30: The Cardinals finished out the Rock Valley Conference dual season with a victory over the hosting Chiefs n Tuesday night.

    Brodhead/Juda got pins from Landon King (215), who made quick work of Israel Mejia in 1:05, Joziah Crisler (132), who took down Nate Goeddeke in 1:44, Marcus McIntyre (138), who finished a dominant regular season with a 49-second fall over Trevor Morand, Landan Peterson (144), who finished a grueling match over Ta-Kai Hubbert in a 3:07 fall, and Dane Huffman (165), who won over Joe Leon in 3:06.

    The Cardinals’ Emmitt Allen (285) also earned a 9-4 decision over Ben Lavariega.

    BF/WB earned pins from Jonah Henningfeld (113), who won over Jacob Roth in 2:53, and Will Wojcik (175), who took 3:12 to take down Charlie Weiss. Dominic Staver also won over Joe Lohmar.

    The RVC tournament will be held Saturday at Delavan-Darien at 9 a.m.
