    Hononegah girls bowling team headed to state tournament

    DeKALB,, Ill. — Hononegah’s girls are headed to the IHSA State Tournament after a solid third-place outing in the Sycamore Sectional on Saturday at Mardi Gras Lanes.

    Senior Cassidy Davenport had a 1,314 score to lead the Indians to a 5,935 total to trail only sectional champion Harlem (6,393) and Oswego East (6,013). Oswego (5,805) finished right behind the Indians to advance to the state tourney.

    The sectional individual champion was sophomore Ashlin Teves of Harlem with a 1,476 score, followed by Harlem sophomore Alexis Born (1,392) and Hononegah’s Davenport (1,312). Hononegah junior Kailyn Davis (1,254) was 11th overall and junior Emilee Mullranin (1,215) was 17th.

    Rounding out Hononegah’s scorers were senior Piper Ennett (1,142) and freshman Riley Flaningam (1,010).

    Davenport averaged 219. She had games of 220, 187 and 278 for a 685. She followed that with games of 199, 238, 192 for 629 and her 1,314. Davis averaged 209. She had games of 223, 180 and 227 for 630, then games of 225, 199, 200 for 624. Mullranin averaged 202.5 with games of 187, 254 and 201 for a 642, then games of 215, 179 and 179 for a 573.

    TEAM SCORES: Harlem 6,393, Oswego East 6,013, Hononegah 5,935, Oswego 5,805, Rockford Guilford 5,691, LaSalle-Peru 5,593, Huntley 5,369, Rockford East 5,320, East Moline United 5,239, Aurora Melea Valley 5,010, Sterling 5,003, Moline 4,949.
