    Hononegah girls track and field team places eighth at indoor classic

    ROCKTON—With the Hononegah girls basketball team gearing up for its sectional semifinal against Lake Zurich on Tuesday, several important athletes for the girls indoor track and field team are still on the hardwood.

    But with the likes of key pieces such as Jordan Dimke, Kylie Simpson and Addyson Niedfeldt away, the Indians still managed several strong results as it finished eighth out of 15 teams at the Hononegah Girls Indoor Classic hosted at the fieldhouse on Saturday.

    Hononegah’s best finish came in the pole vault from senior Amelia Bronnimann, who recorded a personal-best and school indoor record distance of 2.85 meters (9-feet, 4.25 inches). Teammate Emma Krenz finished fourth and scored a PR of 2.70.

    Senior Sophia Hedges had a solid outing as she finished fifth in the 200 meter (26.98) and eighth in the 60 dash (8.17). Junior Isabella Trout added a 10th place in the 800 (2:39.42) while senior Isabelle Molitor ended eighth in the 1600 (5:53.95).

    Junior Ashlyn Richter finished fifth in the 60 hurdles (11.07) while sophomore Tyleia Crandall placed eighth (11.72). Junior Kali Schleis added a top-ten finish with her 1.37-meter score in the high jump helping her place ninth.

    • GRAYSLAKE CENTRAL THROWCASE: Junior Jacob Benson placed seventh after he recorded his indoor personal-best throw in the shot put of 14.87 meters on Saturday.

    Senior John McKenzie was 16th (12.89) in the event that only featured the shot put. Senior Mathew Steger finished 19th (12.21) and junior Bronson Wood was 42nd (9.84).
