    Jordan Dimke has strong indoor track and field season debut for Hononegah

    LAKE VILLA, Ill. — After helping guide the Hononegah girls basketball team through the playoffs and to a sectional final for much of the latter part of winter, sophomore Jordan Dimke made a strong debut in the indoor track and field season.

    Dimke took first place in the high jump at The Clash hosted by Lakes Community High School on Saturday. She recorded a distance of 1.62 meters (5-feet, 3-inches) to edge Woodstock’s Hallie Steponaitis.

    Kali Schleis added a top-five finish for the Indians after placing fifth in the long jump (4.91 meters) while Amelia Bronnimann took ninth in the pole vault (2.73) and teammate Emma Kernz placed 11th (2.58).

    In track events, Allyson Niedfeldt, also making her track and field season debut after being an important piece on the basketball team, finished sixth in the 1600 (5:24.52) and Dimke added another strong placement by taking sixth in the 800 (2:28.01).

    Sophia Hedges finished eighth in the 60-meter dash (8.14) and Lauren Frake placed ninth in the 400 (1:04.83).

    The 4x400 relay of Kylie Simpson, Lauren Frake, Ashlyn Richter and Sophia Hedges placed third (4:18.92) and the 4x800 team of Niedfeldt, Simpson, Keila Borges Aragon and Isabella Trout finished fourth (10:05.90).

    The Indians placed sixth with a team score of 32 while Barrington won the meet with 98 points.

    • STAN REDDEL INVITATIONAL: In York, the Indians’ boys track and field team finished sixth with 47 points.

    Hosting Elmhurst High School dominated the event with 119 points, way ahead of second-place Naperville North’s 63.

    Hononegah’s best finish came from its winning 4x800 relay of Camden Juno, Ben Cooper, Ben Toole and Jacob Wright, which finished in 8:33.00. The 4x200 squad of Coen Lee, Mitchell Meichtry, Chase Cutler and Cristian Lobato had a sixth-place finish (1:36.46).

    Jacob Benson recorded a PR as he took third in the shot put (15.40 meters) and Ben Klink placed ninth in both the long jump (5.87) and high jump (11.82). Jake McLarty snatched ninth in the pole vault (3.43).

    In the track events, Anthony Otero took fourth in the 400 (54.62) and Landon Samuelson finished fourth in the 1600 (4:29.94).

    Cooper was sixth in the 600 (1:30.24) and Lobato ended ninth in the 200 (24.06).
