    Hononegah girls third in Antioch track meet

    Hononegah’s girls took third place in the Sequoit Shahbazian Girls Track Meet held at Antioch High School on Friday.

    The host school won the 10-team meet with 112 points. Rockford Guilford was second with 95 and Hononegah third with 90.5.

    Hononegah’s Sophia Hedges swept the 100 meters (12.93 seconds) and 200 (27.01). The Indians also collected a firsth from Jordan Dimke in the 300 hurdles (50.55) and another from the 4x3200 relay of Keila Borges Aragon, Layla Buckley, Sophia Frommer and Chidiuto Ezeani (10:49.69).

    Kylie Simpson finished second in the 400 (1:03.29) and Allyson Niedfeldt was runnerup in the 3200 (12:18.41). Lauren Frake, Jayden Lake, Buckley and Niedfeldt finished third in the 4x400 (4:34.24).

    Keila Borges Aragon was third in the 1600 (5:46.92) and Amelia Bronnimann was third in the pole vault (2.90 meters). Isabelle Molitor was fourth in the 3200 (12:25.90).

    Frake was fifth in the 800 (2:36.11) and Ashlyn Richter took fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.03). Kali Schleis was sixth in the 100 (13.69).

    Hononegah’s boys took ninth in the 17-team Red Grange Invitational at Wheaton on Friday with 34 points. Grayslake Central was first with 63 to edge Homewood-Flossmoor (59) and Wheaton Warrenville South (54).

    Hononegah’s 4x400 relay team of Cristian Lobato, Anthony Otero, Sam Hagg and Matthew Mahan finished first in 3:31.98 and its 4x800 team of Hagg, Otero, Ben Cooper and Camden Juno was fourth in 8:31.39.

    Jacob Benson won the shot put (15.40 meters).

    Coen Lee was second in the 110 high hurdles (15.57) and seventh in the 300 hurdles (42.41). Alex Bartch was fifth in the 3200 (9:50.65).

    • WATERTOWN INVITE: Beloit Memorial’s girls placed ninth and the Purple Knights boys were 10th in the 10-team meet.

    Baraboo won the girls title with 131 points, followed by Sun Prairie West (104) and Watertown (89). In the boys division, Neenah was first with 118 points, followed by Sun Prairie West (107) and Janesville Craig (104).

    The Knights’ Essence Coleman won the high jump (5-foot). Coleman was also a member of the Knights’ 4x200 relay of Laila Lee, Kori Burnett and Audrey Mills-Brown that took fourth in 1:59.82 as well as a member of the 4x100 relay with Lee, Naima Brooks and Burnett which finished eighth (56.95).

    Beloit’s Jaslyn Gama took second in the 300 hurdles (54.64) and finished third in the 400 (1:06.20).

    Beloit’s Jaedyn Coleman finished second in the discus (131-00) and was fourth in the shot put (45-3.00). The 4x200 relay team of Brian Cunnigan-Little, Elisha Evans, Caiden Price and Tevin Anderson finished eighth in 1:41.54. The 4x400 team of Andrew Cafengiu, Armando Gonzalez, X’Zavion Voss and Price was eighth in 4:03.00.
