ROCKFORD — Hononegah’s softball team started off a busy week of NIC-10 action on Monday by throttling Rockford Boylan 20-3 to improve to 26-2 overall and 15-0 in conference.

The Indians play at Belvidere North on Wednesday and at Harlem on Thursday before hosting Rockford Guilford on Friday for their regular-season finale.

Hononegah wasted no time against the Titans at Sportscore, scoring eight times in the first inning, then adding fivein the third and seven more in the fourth to end the game by the mercy rule. They needed only eight hits to do the damage, with Boylan serving up 11 bases on balls. Only two of the hits were for extra bases. Irelyn O’Brien had a two-run triple and Aislynn Palmer had a three-run double.

Freshman Kaelyn Kelly also continued to rake for Hononegah, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Sam Nosbisch picked up the win, pitching the first three innings and allowing one hit and two unearned runs with three strikeouts.

    • WESTOSHA CENTRAL 2, BELOIT MEMORIAL 1: The Purple Knights very nearly knocked off the first-place Falcons but a sixth-inning solo homer by Sam Erber snuffed out the Southern Lakes Conference upset on Monday.

An RBI single by Meghan Lampos in the first put Westosha Central (15-2, 11-1 SLC) up 1-0 but a solo home run to center field off the bat of Chesney Bishop knotted it up at one.

Bishop was the only Beloit (8-10, 4-7) batter with multiple hits as she finished with two. Jasmine Smithand Allie Gustafson each added singles.

Rilynne Cleland threw seven stellar innings as she worked around eight hits and a walk to allow just the two earned runs. Unfortunately, Lampos was just as strong for the Falcons as she limited the Purple Knights to just four hits while striking out 12.

    • PARKVIEW 6, RIO 4: Lillian McMahon drew a bases-loaded walk to tie it up at four in the seventh and Jazmyn Wiedmer smacked the game-winning two-run single as the Vikings edged the Vikings in Trailways-South action on Monday.

Kylie Stark threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to seal the victory, and the senior finished her complete game with four earned runs allowed on seven hits with eight strikeouts.

Parkview (5-12, 5-11) tied it at two in the seventh when Abby Farnsworth stole home and Natalie Abey scored on a fielder’s choice. Joey Meyers’ steal of home in the fifth put them on top but Rio (2-14, 2-13) answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Parkview had just four singles to Rio's seven hits but drew 13 walks.
