A Long Island McDonald’s has reopened after a renovation.

The Rockville Centre location, at 618 Sunrise Highway, held a recent ribbon-cutting, where owner-operators Lauren, Paul, and Mark Hendel of the Lynbrook-based Hendel Products Group, along with the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce, welcomed back customers. The cost of the renovations were not disclosed.

Paul Hendel has been a part of McDonald's since 1973, when he was first hired at a location in Merrick as a teenager, according to CNBC. His company now owns and operates 31 McDonald's on Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan, including Times Square.

In Rockville Centre, the unit was closed for just over five weeks during the renovation. The lobby at the refreshed McDonald’s has a bright, open layout with a new, modernized dcor. The front counter now faces Sunrise Highway and features separate pick-up areas for front counter and digital orders.

For its “McDelivery couriers” the company has partnered with such companies as Uber Eats and DoorDash across the country the restaurant added an exterior pick-up window. The store now features two double-sided kiosks as opposed to one. According to the Hendel Products group, space was maximized to serve customers in whichever way they prefer to order, whether by mobile order and pay, curbside, delivery or drive-thru.

The back of house was redesigned so that there is more space for the crew to prepare orders. It also features a designated area for preparing beverages, with two automatic beverage systems, as well as ice cream.

The open house celebration featured a photo booth, face painting, live caricature drawings, and a 65-inch TV raffle. McDonald's served up samples of its newest offering, the Grandma McFlurry, as well as frozen beverages.
