ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The historic Ritz Theater is now offering sensory friendly shows this weekend.

This unique movie experience is for anyone who may get over stimulated or overwhelmed by a normal showing. Those who come to see a sensory friendly show will get to watch and enjoy movies with the lights half way dimmed and the volume turned down significantly.

The first of these showings started last week and will continue this weekend July 6, with a 4 p.m. showing of Despicable Me 4.

Manager David Crowder said that he wants to offer other ways for everyone to enjoy the movies.

“So we keep the lights up about half way and turn the volume down a bit, for anyone who has some sensory issues, who may get overloaded  during a typical showing and its just a way for us to be inclusive to the community and everyone in general”

Ritz Theater is still taking donations for their fundraiser that started in 2023. This fundraiser will help with construction needs to the theater. For more information or to donate you can visit the theater’s website .
