Football Comets Beat Staunton In Opener
The Greenville Comets started the 2024 football season with a home victory Friday night. The Comets defeated Staunton 36-7 in a South Central Conference contest. It was a rough start for the Comets with two turnovers, on an interception and a fumble, in the early minutes of the game. Staunton took advantage after the interception, scoring on a 3-yard run for a 7-0 lead with only a minute and 11 seconds played.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis County Police say a suspect is in custody after a man was fatally shot early Saturday in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Bellefontaine Neighbors police officers responded to a reported shooting around 2:40 a.m. in the 1100 block of Oran Drive. At the scene, officers found a man in his late teens suffering a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.
