NEAR COMEBACK: Westridge falls to Roanoke Valley in summer swim meet

Westridge Swim Club held an edge in the butterfly and backstroke events, but that wasn’t enough to complete a comeback as Roanoke Valley defeated the Wahoos 351-286 in a Nash-Halifax County Summer Swim League meet on Thursday (June 27) in Rocky Mount.

A 45-point edge in the freestyle event and a 34-point advantage (68-24) in the individual medley accounted for almost half of Roanoke Valley’s point total.

Westridge outscored RV 62-34 in the butterfly and 78-77 in the backstroke.

RV ended up amassing 69 points in the breaststroke while Westridge tallied 64 points.

Capturing wins in multiple events for the Wahoos were Andrew Kibbe, Colton Bryan, Will Mercer, Nicolas Garzone, Carter Szabo, Clare Kibbe, Sarah Milligan and Elizabeth Kibbe.
