To make the college enrollment process as smooth as possible, Nash Community College officials held a day-long Nighthawk Enrollment Day on campus recently.

Organizers said the event offered new students a one-stop shopping experience where they could enroll in courses, speak with advisors and look into financial aid options. The college’s director of marketing and strategic engagement, Kenyon “K.J.” Askew, said the event was a success, but for new students interested in enrolling for the fall semester, there is still time to enroll for classes.

“Students can still apply and enroll at NCC at any time. It is never too late to enroll,” Askew said.

Askew also noted the community college provides class options from 16 weeks down to four weeks for time-crunched students.

To apply, students can contact the admissions team at (252) 451-8263 or via email at admissions@nashcc.edu. Information about the application process is also online at nashcc.edu/admissions. Or, Askew pointed out, “students can always come to see us on campus.”

For students who aren’t sure what program they are interested in, the NCC website has an interest form on its admissions page for all of the programs offered.

Askew said once an interest form is submitted, a recruiter will be in touch with the prospective student. NCC offers more than 54 degrees, 17 diplomas and 76 short-term training or certificate options, Askew noted.

Joe Anna Choplin, an Associate of Arts student, spoke briefly about why she chose NCC.

“Nash Community College’s welcoming environment and core values resonated deeply with me as I chose my educational path,” Choplin said. “The college fosters a supportive community where students feel empowered to learn and grow.”

Choplin also spoke about the faculty creating a positive learning atmosphere and encouraging her to ask questions and reach her full potential.

“NCC goes beyond academics, offering a wealth of resources that empower personal growth and skill development,” Choplin said. “With this foundation, I’m confident I can seamlessly transition to a four-year university and ultimately achieve my career goals. I’m excited to see what the future holds, and I know NCC has prepared me to embrace it.”

For students new to the campus, Askew recommended they attend New Student Orientation or visit nashcc.edu/new-student- orientation.

Askew said dates to remember for attending in the fall semester are the tuition deadline, which is Aug. 6; the first day of classes, which is Aug. 15; and the start of the second 8-week class option, which is Oct. 16.
