The Rocky Mount Academy varsity baseball team enjoyed a successful season in 2024, as the Eagles won the Carolina Independent Conference title and reached the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Division 2A Championship Series before falling in two straight games to Wayne Country Day at McCrary Park in Asheboro.

The Eagles had to play much of their early schedule on the road while work was being done on their new press box. Enough of it was completed so RMA could play eight home games, and the Eagles were successful in all but one of those contests, including a 3-2 win over rival Faith Christian in eight innings as well as state playoff victories over The O’Neal School and The Burlington School. RMA then traveled to Wilson and ousted Greenfield to reach the state championship series with Wayne Country Day.

The Eagles finished 15-6 overall and 7-1 in CIC play under head coach Cameron Ramsey. They scored 119 runs and allowed 93.

Members of the team include seniors Marti McKnight (20), Jordan Wright (5), Luke Holloman (2), Carson Cross (10), Parker Sherrod (12) and Isaac Calhoun (6); juniors Henry Dunton (1), Seth Tickel (14) and Wyatt Wells (9); sophomores Gehrig Miller (3), Judah Calhoun (4), Kaiden Pulley (7), Dustin Proctor (8), Owen Lewis (11), Liam Long (13) and Deacon Stinson (16); freshman Tripp Evans (17); and eighth-grader Donaven Wright (15).
