HONORING COUGARS: Gay, Moore are athletes of the year at SWE

SouthWest Edgecombe High School honored its student-athletes in the 2023-2024 season during a ceremony on Monday night.

Parker Gay was named the Male Athlete of the Year, while Mackenzie Moore was tabbed as the Female Athlete of the Year.

The Four-Year Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year went to Aidan Knudsen and Rubi Sanchez, respectively, for having the highest grade point average while playing at least two sports all four years. Both held over 4.0 GPAs during their careers at SWE.

The “Triple Crown” Athletics Award went to Sanchez (female) and Diontez Townsend (male).
