People are theorizing why a utility box in San Francisco fell over. Some said it was due in part to dog urine. Ken Khoury, the owner of Castro Coffee Company, said the AT&T-owned telephone junction box has been a popular destination for dogs to urinate on. The box's base is now corroded.

A high-speed vehicle pursuit is underway this evening in inland Mendocino County, with authorities tracking a wanted vehicle reaching speeds of up to 140 miles per hour. The chase began around 6:55 p.m., according to scanner traffic, as a motorcycle, described as a vehicle, was spotted traveling northbound on Highway 101 through Hopland. A helicopter followed the vehicle as it sped through the area.

Several sideshows happened throughout the East Bay overnight, with attendees at two creating a circle of fire in an intersection. In Vallejo, a sideshow was held at the intersection of Lewis Brown Drive and BW Williams Drive. The sideshow happened just after midnight. Police dispersed the crowd within an hour but not before attendees created a ring of fire in the intersection and stood inside while cars circled around them.The other sideshows happened in Crockett, Richmond and Oakland. Another ring of fire was made at the sideshow in Oakland. That sideshow happened at the intersection of International Boulevard and 42nd Avenue. Police quickly dispersed the sideshow after about 20 minutes. Attending sideshows is illegal, and police often track down vehicles involved and impound them.

Northwestern California experienced a record-breaking rainfall event yesterday, August 23, shattering previous records in Eureka and Crescent City for the day. Woodley Island in Eureka recorded 1.19 inches of rain, breaking the previous record of 0.27 inches set in 1997. Crescent City saw 2.05 inches of rain, eclipsing the former record of 0.12 inches from 1975.
