U of I celebrating ag research and advancement at ‘family fun night’
ABERDEEN — A long-running event that celebrates agriculture advancements is returning to eastern Idaho. The University of Idaho is inviting the public to its Aberdeen Research and Extension Center on July 17 to enjoy live music, games, prizes and free food while they learn about agricultural research. It’s at 1693 South and 2700 West and the event will last from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Then & Now” Quilt exhibit at the Twin Falls Historical Society for a limited time
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —There is no shortage of events happening at the Twin Falls Historical Society. For the second year in a row, the quilt show has returned to the museum. The theme for this year is the “Then & Now” quilt show. A part of this exhibit showcases not only the agricultural history of Southern Idaho but also the impact women had as well. “The product of the farmers is no longer here. It’s gone to people that have eaten the food all over the nation, but what we do have are things like quilts that have remained and tell the stories of the people that were here and what they were interested in doing, and what women did to contribute to the agricultural efforts of this community,” Board Member of the Twin Falls Historical Society Jane Anderson explained.

Waterfowl banding efforts help provide critical monitoring data
Thousands of ducks and geese are banded across Idaho each year as part of a federal waterfowl monitoring program. This June, Fish and Game staff led banding efforts at two locations within the Clearwater Region- Winchester Lake State Park and Lewiston Country Club. A total of 75 geese were processed this year (50 females and 25 males) including 64 newly banded geese and 11 geese that had previously been captured and banded by IDFG. Over the last two years, a total of 163 geese have been banded in the Clearwater Region.
