    Phelps County shooting suspect sentenced to 10 years in prison

    ROLLA, Mo. — A man accused of shooting another man on the street in Rolla in 2022 has pleaded guilty and will spend the next 10 years in prison.

    Online court documents show that Tanner Gage Branson entered a guilty plea under a plea agreement and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for first-degree assault, four years for unlawful possession of a firearm and four years for receiving stolen property. All sentences are to run concurrently.

    Branson was arrested in October 2022 after he was seen running from the shooting location and trying to dispose of a gun in a port-a-potty near Ber Juan Park.

    Police said Branson had approached the victim in the 1400 block of Hauck Drive and hit him in the face. Witnesses told police that when the victim approached Branson, he was shot several times in the lower extremities.
