Red Hot Chili Peppers Drop New ‘Californication’-Inspired Parks Project Collection

Twenty-five years after they released their 1999 classic album, Californication , the Red Hot Chili Peppers are celebrating the anniversary of the project with a new line of merch that will have fans dreaming of Californication all over again. The legendary rock band teamed up with the Parks Project for a limited-edition capsule collection — an ode to Yosemite National Park.

Now available to shop online, the Red Hot Chili Peppers x Parks Project Yosemite line features three pieces that take inspiration from the California national park, as well as the band’s album artwork and the music video for “Californication.”

The capsule collection features a graphic T-shirt , a long-sleeved tee , and a woven outdoors blanket that include famous Chili Peppers’ motifs, and, per a release, “the natural splendor and wildlife of Yosemite, reflecting the band’s deep connection to the national park and their desire to see it preserved,” (think: wasps, butterflies, and landmarks found in Yosemite).

Stretch out in the park with this Yosemite blanket. It measures 60 x 60 inches, and it features illustrations taken from the gaming-themed “Californication” music video, plus wasps and butterflies found in Yosemite.

“Turning their focus completely to songs instead of jams, the Red Hot Chili Peppers steered frontman Anthony Kiedis’ voice into a radio-friendlier wail on Californication ,” Rolling Stone wrote of the LP in our list of the Best Albums of All Time . “That, and the reappearance of guitarist/secret weapon John Frusciante, helped form beautifully composed songs such as ‘Scar Tissue.’ ‘When John gets excited, he’s like 8 billion volts of electricity,’ said Kiedis. ‘He was knocking things over — it was absolutely chaotic, like a little kid trying to set up a Christmas tree.'”

While the Parks Project has teamed up with other bands in the past, including one celebrating the Grateful Dead back in 2021, the Yosemite line marks the first time the organization has debuted merch with the Chili Peppers.

According to the Parks Project, the brand will also make a donation as part of the Chili Peppers Yosemite collaboration to NatureBridge “to provide need-based scholarships, giving students who face barriers in having outdoor experiences the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wonder and adventure of Yosemite through outdoor education programs,” per a release.
