If you’re clamoring for Jack White to hit the road in support of his surprise new album , the good news is t hat he’s already on tour. The (semi) bad news is you’re just gonna have to play really close attention if you want to see him.

White discussed the current situation on Instagram Tuesday (Aug. 13), writing, “Lotta folk asking about when we are going to announce ‘tour dates,’ well, we don’t know what to tell you but the tour already started at the Legion a couple of weeks ago.”

White was referring to a gig in late July at an American Legion outpost in Nashville. He’s since played additional gigs in Atlanta and Detroit — always at pretty small venues — with a couple of festival shows thrown in between. White noted that some people have referred to these as “pop up shows,” but he dismissed the categorization: “You can call them whatever you want, but we are on tour right now. These are the ‘shows.’”

The musician went on to say that future gigs won’t really be announced in advance but “as close to the show date as possible” (maybe as early as the morning of). The band will also continue to play “small clubs, back yard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses.”

Capturing his approach to the moment, White quipped: “I also want to walk through orchard fields and grab apples off of trees at will and fill my belly full of that fruit if the desire strikes me. I’m looking for that cool breeze you know? Lots of love and rock and roll to you all and you are blessed for giving that love to others, we hope that we see you out on the road soon, if not let’s get coffee and a slice of pie sometime? Music is sacred.”

White quietly released his new album back in July, first making it only available on vinyl through Third Man Records locations in Nashville, Detroit, and London. The record, which was first untitled before being dubbed No Name , finally got a wide digital release earlier this month. No Name marks White’s first album since 2022 when he dropped two LPs, Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive .
