Cash Cobain and Laila’s! long-awaited single, “Problem,” is here. The nearly-eight-minute track dropped a week before the surging New York rapper/producer’s Play Cash Cobain album is set to drop on August 23. Humorously billed on X as a “we are the world” track, the slick flip of Laila!’s “Not My Problem” features a slew of artists: Fabolous, Big Sean, Kenzo B, Lay Bankz, Luh Tyler, Anycia, Chow Lee, Kaliii, 6lack, Flo Milli, YN Jay, FLEE, Don Q and Rob49. The artists take turns riffing on Laila’s “not my problem” refrain on the ode to living life without a second thought.

The song had been teased for weeks, with Cash uploading a snippet of a beat sampling the Laila! hit, which went viral after the Brooklyn-based artist-producer’s On The Radar appearance . A slew of artists released clips featuring them spitting over the beat, prompting Cash to clarify that not everyone who dropped a “Problem’ freestyle would be on the official single.

Cash Cobain’s knack for flipping a wide variety of music affirms his self-decreed “Sample God” dignification. And “Problem” was an exceptionally fast flip; Laila!’s song is still buzzing. While many artists sample for nostalgia’s sake (or to cheaply lean on someone else’s hit), Cash dropped the rare sample that feels like it breathes on its own, while also amplifying the original, still-fresh sample source. The song also offers a Slizzy take on a classic rap aesthetic of artists treating a vocal sample like a duet, letting the words drive the direction of their verse. Some of the features humorously divulge their shopping and women’s “problems,” while others rhyme that your boo being on them is not their problem. The song’s diverse features, from Flo Milli and Anycia to Big Sean and Rob49, cue Cash’s musical eclecticism.

The song was released to DSPs as part of a problem EP, which features his previous hits “Rump Punch,” “Fisherrrr,” and “Dunk Contest.” Cash is currently opening on Ice Spice’s Y2K! tour, which had a hometown show last week .
