As we approach autumn — a.k.a. Soccer Mommy Season — Sophie Allison has dropped another single off her upcoming album Evergreen.

Whereas the previous singles “ M ” and “ Lost ” are acoustic, “Driver” is a genuine rocker, with Sophie Allison turning up the volume. “I’m a five foot four engine waiting to move/I’m a test of his patience with all that I do,” she sings over a burning riff. The hypnotic chorus — “Where are we going now?” — is bound to stay in your head for days.

” ’Driver’ is a love song that’s really about someone being there for you in spite of your shortcomings,” Allison says of the track. “It’s more lighthearted than some of the other songs I’ve put out this year, using my distractedness as a bit of a punchline.”

Evergreen , Allison’s follow-up to 2022’s Sometimes Forever , arrives Oct. 25 via Loma Vista Recordings. Allison announced a massive tour in support of the album, playing several shows this month before kicking off a full leg in January. It wraps in her hometown of Nashville on March 15 before she heads overseas. Tickets go on sale Friday.
