Sean Combs Offers Private Plane, Mansion, Kids’ Passports in Bail Plea

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorneys are desperately seeking to bail the embattled hip-hop mogul out of federal custody, offering an extensive bail package that includes a $50 million bond; the passports of his daughters and mother; the equity of the home of his mother’s condo in Florida; and home detention with GPS monitoring, according to court records obtained by Rolling Stone.

The letter was addressed to a federal New York judge ahead of Combs’ first appearance in court on Tuesday afternoon, while SDNY prosecutors are seeking to keep the 54-year-old in custody after he was charged with three counts related to a sex trafficking and racketeering investigation .

Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo argued that Combs was “not a risk of flight or a danger to anyone in the community,” saying that Combs had been aware of the looming indictment before the raids on his homes in late March and had been willing to self-surrender before his arrest on Monday night.

“Sean Combs has never evaded, avoided, eluded or run from a challenge in his life. He will not start now,” Agnifilo wrote in the letter. “As he has handled every hardship, he will meet this case head-on, he will work hard to defend himself, and he will prevail.”

As part of the bail package, Combs already surrendered his passport to his attorneys in April, according to the court documents, along with the passports of his daughters Chance, twins Jessie and D’Lila, and his toddler Love. The Bad Boy Entertainment founder’s mother Janice had also surrendered her passport to Combs’ legal counsel.  Combs and his three adult sons — Quincy, Justin and Christian — have offered to co-sign the agreement.

The former billionaire — whom Forbes now estimates has a net worth of $400 million — also noted that he paid the rest of the $18 million mortgage remaining on his $48 million Miami compound off in August and has been trying to sell his private plane. “Just this weekend, Mr. Combs entered into a Letter of Intent with a party to sell it,” the court documents note. “Mr. Combs understands he is not to travel to Los Angeles, where the plane had been located this week, and further that the plane is not to be brought to any District in which he is located until it is sold.”

Combs’ lawyer also gave more details in the lead-up to Combs’ late-night arrest, saying the hip-hop mogul had relocated to New York earlier this month to cooperate with investigators. He allegedly had an apartment rental viewing on Monday night but was unable to tour the space due to his arrest.

He has also been cooperating with prosecutors’ subpoenas, the letter argues, saying Combs’ business entities have “produced over 144,000 pages of documents to the SDNY in compliance with the subpoena. “

In remarks following Combs’ arrest, Damian Williams, an attorney for the Department of Justice, said, “A year ago, Sean Combs stood in Times Square and was handed a key to New York City. Today, he’s been indicted and will face justice in the Southern District of New York.

“We are not done. This investigation is ongoing. And I encourage anyone with information about this case to come forward and to do it quickly,” Williams added. “We are committed to bringing justice to everyone victimized by the defendant. … I’m not taking anything off the table.”
