MJ Lenderman made his solo late-night television debut Wednesday (fittingly) with a visit to The Tonight Show , where he performed “Wristwatch.”

Backed by the Wind — including Wednesday bandmate Karly Hartzman on tambourine — Lenderman gave fans a preview of his upcoming tour with a rendition of the Manning Fireworks standout.

While “Wristwatch” marked Lenderman’s first solo late-night performance, the singer/songwriter previously appeared on a March 2024 episode of The Late Show , where he joined Waxahatchee for their collaboration “Right Back At It.” Lenderman’s other band, Wednesday, has not yet played one of the major late-night shows.

Lenderman will hit the road next month for a North American tour in support of Manning Fireworks , concluding November 1 with a hometown show in Asheville, North Carolina. After that, Lenderman and the Wind will head to Europe for a few weeks before returning stateside for another extensive U.S. trek.

Ahead of Manning Fireworks ’ arrival earlier this month, Rolling Stone spoke to the indie rock’s favorite guitar hero about his new album. “I’m not trying to go out there and sing about me being a bad person. If you’re doing something wrong, I don’t think that’s the healthiest way to attack that. It’s more like, what would you do in certain situations? That’s the most you can put yourself into it,” he said of his songwriting. “That’s why these subjects are fun to attack. Maybe that’s why people resonate with it, because there’s a part of that there for everyone.”
