Elton John: Never Too Late , a documentary about the music icon looking back on his career ahead of his final U.S. concert, will head to Disney+ this December following its premiere earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Ahead of its December 13 arrival on the streaming service, Rolling Stone exclusively presents the new trailer for the film, which features a new original song by John:

“When I was very young, my life was all consumed by music,” John says in the trailer as archival footage. “I just wanted to become a songwriter.”

The documentary “follows Elton John as he looks back on his life and the astonishing early days of his 50-year career in this emotionally charged, intimate and uplifting full-circle journey,” Disney+ says in a synopsis.

“As he prepares for his final concert in North America at Dodger Stadium, Elton takes us back in time to recount the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, abuse and addiction to become the icon he is today. The film will feature a new original song from Elton John.”

Never Too Late , named after John’s song from the 2019 soundtrack of the live-action The Lion King , is a companion of sorts to the concert film Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium , which documented his final North American show and, with an Emmy win , also propelled John to EGOT status.

The new documentary, which will have a limited theatrical release on November 15, was directed by R.J. Cutler and John’s husband David Furnish.

I’m a huge Elton John fan (in a healthy way). I’ve been once since I was a child. I have Rocketman on Blu-Ray, I have a greatest hits CD (Im working on the vinyl collection), and I have his autobiography, Me. Looking forward to watching it. I’m putting it on calendar.
