Ozzy Osbourne has commented on the shooting of his former guitarist Jake E. Lee, calling the incident “another senseless act of gun violence.”

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Lee was shot multiple times in Las Vegas early that morning. “Lee is fully conscious and doing well in an intensive care unit at a Las Vegas hospital. He is expected to fully recover,” the guitarist’s rep said in a statement.

Osbourne later issued a statement to TMZ , “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence.”

The singer, who employed Lee in the early Eighties, continued, “I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK.”

Osbourne has previously spoken out about America’s epidemic of gun violence and mass shootings, citing it as one of the reasons he decided to move back to the U.K. in 2022.

“America has changed so drastically. It isn’t the United States of America at all,” Sharon Osbourne said at the time. “Nothing’s united about it. It’s a very weird place to live right now.”

Ozzy added, “Everything’s fucking ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s fucking crazy,” referring to the Route 91 Harvest shooting in 2017 where 60 people were killed.

As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made in the Lee shooting. “This is an ongoing investigation,” a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson tells Rolling Stone .
