Taron Egerton plays a blackmailed TSA agent who receives special instructions from an unknown passenger in the new Carry-On trailer; the film premieres Dec. 13 via Netflix. “You got 10 minutes before everyone in this airport dies,” the unknown passenger, played by Jason Bateman, says. “All you have to do is nothing.”

The trailer, released Wednesday, features an explosive car crash, shoot-outs, and a carry-on bag with an undisclosed weapon. Carry-On follows novice TSA agent Ethan who attempts to stop the unknown traveler from letting the deadly package onto a Christmas Eve flight. The Jaume Collet-Serra-directed film also stars Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Logan Marshall-Green, Dean Norris, Gil Perez- Abraham, Tonatiuh, Curtiss Cook, Joe Williamson, and Josh Brener.

When viewers meet Ethan, he’s unsatisfied and has a “lack of fulfillment” in his airport employee role, Egerton told Entertainment Weekly . He also learns his girlfriend (Carson) is pregnant and must grapple with becoming a father. So, when he receives the life-threatening message from the unknown traveler, he rises to the occasion, Egerton added.

“I think he’s someone who lacks a sense of drive and direction but is ultimately really resourceful and capable. He’s a bit of a hero in waiting,” Egerton said. “He’s pretty noble and selfless. He has all the qualities of an archetypal hero underneath the lack of direction.”

Outside of the airport thriller, Egerton stars as a teenage gorilla in Sing: Thriller , a spinoff from the animated Sing film franchise. Sing: Thriller, which also features Matthew McConaughey and Scarlett Johansson as animated animals, arrived via Netflix today, Oct. 16.
