A Georgia scare actor stabbed his best friend in the head and torso before carving parts of his intestines out and dumping the remains in a shallow grave. Twisted Brandon Christopher Risner, 23, has been jailed for life for the horrific, frenzied attack on his unsuspecting friend Aaron William Davis, 21.
Risner pleaded guilty last month to charges of malice murder , felony murder, assault, battery, concealing the death of another, abandonment of a dead body, theft, and removal of body parts from the scene of a death. Aaron was murdered in November 2022 while staying at Risner's home in Rome, Georgia .
The two had been friends for years with each frequenting the other's family home on numerous occasions for meals, events and get-togethers. While it is not known what sparked the attack, investigators believe the two had been out drinking and then went to sleep at Risner's house.
Aaron was in an upstairs bedroom asleep when the attack happened. Floyd County Assistant District Attorney Leah Mayo revealed in a court hearing: "Aaron was killed on the bed … and then drug into the bathroom. His blood was found on the door of the bathroom shower as well as other places.
"Aaron didn’t have any defensive wounds. Aaron didn’t see this coming, and this was not a case of mutual combat or something like that."
Risner stabbed Aaron in the head, chest, torso and extremities before carving off several body parts including a section of the younger man's small intestines. The killer then put the body in his victim's car, drove off and buried the remains in a shallow grave.
Aaron's family reported him missing when he didn't return and police then found his abandoned car and his body a short distance away. Risner later turned himself into police and he was indicted for murder in January 2023.
In between the killing and the burial, the court heard Risner watched horror movies and conducted internet searches for duct tape and cleaning.
Police also revealed they found chilling lyrics to a song Risner had written after the killing, which read: "“He screamed ’til he choked on his own tongue and blood. His scream became a gargle as he swallowed his tongue".
In court, the victim’s mother, Sara Davis, talked about how close the two men had been, saying: "I believe Brandon carefully planned Aaron’s murder. I’ve cooked and served Brandon thousands of dinners over the years. … He was all the while planning to murder my son while I was cooking for him, taking him out to eat, taking him to the fair.”
In a devastating post on a GoFundme page, the family wrote: "Most of you have heard by now that our son Aaron was savagely taken from us. We will always love him and miss him. He was the glue in our family dynamic with special ties to each of his siblings and parents.
"He was loved by his friends. We are still trying to make sense of this tragedy and why this happened. He was always a kid at heart but also so smart and embraced the adulthood that he needed to. He graduated from college in April, finished his internship this Summer, was so happy in having a girlfriend (and her family) that he truly loved, had just aced an entrance exam for his Master's program the very last day that any of us had contact with him. We were so excited to see where his future was heading."
