Men’s Soccer Kicks Off With Shutout
The Benedictine University men’s soccer team opened 2024 by shutting out Eureka on the road. The team controlled the first half, holding a 12-1 advantage in shots but managed just one goal on a tally from Berto Castillo in the 30 minute. Castillo set up Manny Casillas in the 58th minute and Benedictine closed out the win with a 79th minute marker from Chris Reynoso . Benedictine posted 16 shots in the win. Jordan Rolon made seven saves in the blank sheet. Benedictine opens the home schedule on Sunday night at 5pm against North Park.

Peoria mom of infant who died from drug overdose pleads not guilty
PEORIA (25News Now) - The mother of a nine-month-old baby who died after he chewed on a drug-laced bag pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges Thursday. The Peoria County Circuit Court confirmed the not guilty plea from 19-year-old Zenai Wolford in the case. She faces one count of endangering the life of a child and was ordered to stay in jail as she awaits her trial.

CHICAGO - An Illinois State trooper was injured when a vehicle struck his squad car on the Bishop Ford Expressway early Saturday morning.
