Kennebunkport officials say don't swim at Colony Beach due to elevated levels of bacteria
Officials are warning residents and visitors to stay out of the water at Colony Beach in Kennebunkport near the mouth of the Kennebunk River. The town says test results from Wednesday showed an elevated level of bacteria in the water. They tested again on Thursday and will have those results on Friday.

Main Street to Close for Car Show
Downtown Sanford will be hopping next Friday night, July 26, with the sounds of Doo-wop, the aroma of barbecue and the flash of chrome. More than 100 vintage cars are expected to line Main Street for Cruising with Friends, a car show organized by Friends of Downtown. Main Street between Washington Street and Winter Street will be closed to car traffic from 4 to 8 pm. A food court will be set up at Main Street Marketplace.
58-Year-Old Woman Died after Single-Vehicle Crash in Maine
A 58-year-old woman died Monday after a crash on Starks Street in Anson. Valerie Hoyt of Industry was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle accident, said police. Hoyt veered off the roadway and crashed on the side of the road, according to the Morning Sentinel. Ongoing Crash Investigation.

To help meet the dire needs of the state’s aviation maintenance workforce, the University of Maine’s Augusta campus has instituted the state’s first aviation maintenance technician program. Reportedly, one impetus for launching the program, which is based at the Brunswick Landing aviation campus, was when medevac operator LifeFlight of Maine told the university it had spent a year trying to recruit just one maintenance technician.

Edgecomb officials to inspect Pioneer Motel violations
An April Maine Department of Health and Human Services inspection of Pioneer Motel in Edgecomb identified three critical and 11 non-critical violations of Maine Rules Relating to Lodging Establishments.
