The annual Cops for Kids softball tournament raised over $14,000 this year for the Special Olympics.

The event, hosted by the Southern Softball Association, had 35 teams participating in a bracket-styled competition featuring 8U, 10U, and 12U girls fast pitch softball teams.

This year marked a significant change in the tournament format, introducing head-to-head competitions among young athletes, which added a fresh and exciting dynamic to the event. The tournament drew enthusiastic crowds, with contributions from sponsors, gate fees, merchandise sales and team fees all contributed to the fundraising efforts.

The funds raised will be dedicated to supporting the Special Olympics, ensuring that athletes have the resources they need for the upcoming year.

“We would especially like to thank all of the volunteers, public safety personnel, sponsors and the SSA for all coming together to make this event a success,” said Corey Bowers with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
