The free events will include a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., along with a “bring your own picnic” at noon and an opportunity to join the Continental Army at 3 p.m.

Visitors also will have the opportunity to declare loyalty to the king or congress throughout the day.

A full list of events is available at the fort’s website and Facebook page.

“Independence Day was celebrated every year at the fort by the soldiers we honor today,” said Park Ranger Kelly Cardwell, in a statement. “There’s something for everyone.”

The next scheduled event at the fort is Honor America Day on Saturday, July 27.
