    Drone videos capture intense storm damage in Rome and Canastota

    CENTRAL NEW YORK (WSYR-TV) — Severe storms ripped through two CNY counties, leaving tens of thousands without power, buildings in ruins, and The National Weather Service looking for answers.

    In Oneida County, Rome was hit by a likely tornado. Areas in Downtown Rome, neighborhoods, and other nearby areas had buildings collapse, roofs blown off, trees down, bent street signs, broken traffic lights, windows, and more.

    In Madison County, Canastota suffered from similar damages. Trees are down, roads are and many are still without power.

    One person died as a result of the storm.

    The village closed off Barlow Street for safety purposes after ripping up a resident’s deck.
