Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 86 calls from July 1-8. The incidents included: July 1. Deputies responded to the Fort Peck Community College in Poplar to investigate a transient who was possibly an unregistered sexual offender. The man said he was registered as an offender with the tribes. Deputies transported him to Wolf Point to get him registered in Roosevelt County. He then asked to be taken to North Dakota, so deputies dropped him off at the state line.
Event Aims To Increase Voting Turnout
With registration and turnout lower than anticipated in the primary election for Native Americans, Western Native Voice is aiming to increase voting enthusiasm this year. The group will have a free bingo and free meal at Silver Wolf Casino from 6 to 8 p.m. July 23. The doors will open at 5 p.m. for the free meal.
