What Drinking Banana Tea At Night Does To Your Body

    2024-08-30

When I previously wrote about different herbal and homemade teas that can aid with sleep, I mentioned banana tea. I didn't think anyone would really be interested in it. I was shocked to see how many of you learned something, and wanted to know more about this strange but underappreciated tea!

    Why It Works:

Tryptophan, potassium, and magnesium are abundant in bananas. You may recognize tryptophan from eating too much turkey during the holidays and getting sleepy. This is because it helps with synthesis of the hormones melatonin and serotonin, which promote sleep. Minerals like magnesium and potassium are linked to improved sleep. Additionally, they aid in muscle relaxation.

    Extra Advantages of Banana Tea

    Stops Bloating

Bananas include potassium, which aids in the control of bodily fluids. keeping the body in equilibrium as a result. Sodium is a contributing factor to the body's bloating and water retention. In addition to bananas' high water content, potassium may help your kidneys excrete more salt through urination, counteracting the effects of sodium in the body.

    Promotes Cardiac Health

Bananas include potassium and magnesium, which help control and decrease high blood pressure. Furthermore, another powerful antioxidant found in abundance in bananas is called catechins, and it may help reduce the risk of heart disease.

    The Recipe for Banana Tea

    Ingredients

    • Whole bananas or banana peels
    • Half a cup of water
    • Optional: milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, or cinnamon

    Directions

    • Wash one large banana. Organic is best.
    • Trim the banana on both ends.
    • In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
    • Add the banana, unpeeled. You can split the banana in half if it's too large for the saucepan. Simmer for ten minutes on low heat.
    • Take the pan off of the burner. After straining the banana, sip your tea. For added flavor, you can add extra items like cinnamon, milk, maple syrup, or vanilla.

To ensure that the effects of this banana tea take effect, drink it an hour before going to bed.

    The Banana Peel

You can omit the inside of the banana fruit if you are watching your blood sugar levels or find the recipe above to be excessively sweet. Just peel the banana and use the peel in the above recipe.
