Supreme Court denies motion for relief for man who killed 81-year-old Clinton woman
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A man sentenced to death for killing an 81-year-old woman back in 2010 will not get another day in court. On Thursday, the Mississippi Supreme Court denied James Hutto’s petition to file for successive post-conviction relief, with the judges saying his arguments were without merit.

Mississippi man gets sentence nearly tripled by judge after creating commotion outside courtroom
A Mississippi man’s 25-year sentence for attempted murder and attempted kidnapping was nearly tripled by a judge who witnessed the man misbehaving outside of the court. The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that Amonty Young, 37, of West Point, will now spend 70 years behind bars after he caused a commotion in a holding cell after Judge James Kitchens’ initial sentence in Clay County Court.

Arrest made in Meridian High School burglaries
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - An arrest has been made in connection to a series of burglaries at Meridian High School. The search for the suspects began around 2:00 p.m. Thursday. The Meridian Public School District Campus Police, with help from the Meridian Police Department and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, has arrested one male suspect in the Poplar Springs area.
