Forsyth emergency services hold active shooter training
The Rosebud County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Forsyth Public Schools, the Forsyth Fire Department, Rosebud County Emergency Services and the Rosebud County Healthcare Center, held an active shooter training at Forsyth Elementary School on Monday, June 24. The event included multiple emergency services as a multi-casualty event was simulated with the aid of volunteers.
Colstrip landfill fire contained as of Wednesday morning
COLSTRIP, Mont. - A fire at the landfill in Colstrip is burning tires and other construction materials, calling for residents to stay indoors. The Rosebud County Disaster and Emergency Services posted that at 8:35 p.m., people in the immediate area of the landfill are advised to stay indoors and away from the area.
Forsyth boil advisory downgraded after June 12 water main break
UPDATE: June 19 at 9:29 a.m. The following is a press release from the Rosebud Disaster and Emergency Services:. On June 12th, 2024, our water system experienced a water main break that caused pressure loss in the distribution system and drained the storage tank. A boil water advisory was issued on the 12th of June 2024 following the break.
Department of Transportation announces road work on US HWY 212 in Rosebud County
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) recently announced that summer road work on a 12-mile portion of US Highway 212 (US 212) east of Lame Deer is scheduled to commence in June. The project begins just east of the junction with Montana Highway 39 (MT 39) at the roundabout in Lame Deer and extends east. The contractor selected for work on this project is Prince, Inc.

Forsyth water main fixed; boil advisory expected to remain in effect until later this week
UPDATE: June 17 at 1:21 p.m. The City of Forsyth's water main has been fixed as of Monday; however, a boil advisory is expected to still be in effect until later this week. The Montana Department of Transportation said on social media a chemical testing is pending which is why the boil advisory remains in place.
