Peggy Clark received her Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Society International 50-year pin at the Beta Nu Chapter meeting held in Marlin, on Sept. 10. Peggy, who first taught five years at West ISD, came to Rosebud and Mrs. Mary Lee Stubbs, an English teacher in Rosebud, invited her to join DKG Society International. Lady Cougars sweep Marlin
On Friday, the Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars traveled to Marlin to take on the Lady Bulldogs. They would sweep Marlin 3-0. The first two points of the first set went to Rosebud-Lott. The Lady Cougars jumped up to a 6-1 lead, which was soon increased with an ace from Mercedes Buhl (11) for an 8-1 lead. Texas pecan production below average, demand remains strong
Texas pecan orchards were expected to produce a mixed bag of results amid good prices and strong demand, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. AgriLife Extension horticulturist, Uvalde, said the drought and heat likely impacted some orchards, and 2022 was expected to be a below-average year also because last year’s crop was heavy. Pecan trees typically go through cyclical performance year to year. Heavy crops are typically followed by lighter yields and vice versa. County Commissioners lift burn ban again
Falls County Commissioners lifted the burn ban in the county and set Free Trash Day for Oct. 8 during a meeting Monday. The Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse in Marlin on Sept. 26 with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). Commissioners approved to continue the lift of the burn ban for at least the next two weeks. Study Club hears updates from City of Rosebud
The Wednesday Study Club met on Sept. 14, 2022, at the D Brown Library with 16 members and six guests present. Pat Runcie called the meeting to order. Flag pledges were recited, and Mary Ann Mitchell gave the invocation. Runcie introduced Rosebud City Manager Ken Murray. He gave an update on city activities. On Monday the City Council will vote on the engineering firm to start the cleaning out of the ditches. He is working on an ordinance committee to rewrite city ordinances since most are out of date.
