The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team hosted the Riesel Indians on Friday. The Cougars fell to the Indians, losing 28-14. Riesel started strong against the Cougars, taking a 15-0 lead. Rosebud-Lott put themselves on the scoreboard in the second quarter in a big way with a 61-yard pick six from Jordyn Barrientos. That big defensive play helped the Cougars close the gap to 15-7. The Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars volleyball team traveled to take on the Marlin Lady Bulldogs on Friday. The Lady Cougars swept Marlin 3-0. The first set stayed even until Rosebud-Lott pulled away and took a 16-9 lead. Marlin broke the drought with a point to make the score 16-10. Preservation Rosebud plans Friends of the Museum
As members of Preservation Rosebud arrived at the museum on Sept. 21, they were amazed to find the pots of crotons at the entrance flourishing and putting on new growth. This was because of the constant care these plants have received from our “Friend of the Museum” Karen Wolf, who volunteered to keep them watered during the dry summer months. Lady Cougars continue to win
The Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars volleyball team traveled to take on the Riesel Lady Indians on Friday. Rosebud-Lott was victorious and defeated Riesel 3-1. The Lady Cougars won the first set 25-9, won the second set 25-16, lost the third set 25-23, then won the fourth set 25-10. Jackie Salazar played a great game with 11 digs, two aces, and an assist. Brightan Willberg had an amazing game with 15 kills and nine digs. Kaitlyn Jenkins was amazing with 22 kills, seven digs, an ace, and two assists. Kayley Robertson had a phenomenal game with four kills, six digs, four aces, and 35 assists. With this victory, Rosebud-Lott has an overall record of 21-10 and a district record of 1-0. After a home game against the Bremond Lady Tigers on Tuesday, the Lady Cougars travel to take on the Marlin Lady Bulldogs. The game will be on Friday and is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team hosted the Crawford Pirates on Friday for their home opener and district opener. The Cougars were victorious, beating Crawford 28-27 in thrilling fashion for their first win of the year. Rosebud-Lott started the scoring in the first quarter with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Pryce Rabroker to Jamarquis Johnson for a 7-0 lead. WSC begins year with updates from city officials
The Wednesday Study Club met on Sept. 13, at the D Brown Library with 17 members and guests present. President Pat Runcie introduced Librarian Kelly Hughes. She presented donations to the Memorial Room including the Drum Major Mace from Rosebud High School from David Ernst and an autograph memento book from David Evangelista. Hughes has used the Dollar General Grant along with WSC funds to purchase over 900 books this year. Forty new patrons have signed up to use the library facilities. The summer reading program was very successful, and the Marlin Agricultural Extension Agent presented programs on nutrition to the children. ...

The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team traveled to take on the Goldthwaite Eagles on Friday. The Cougars fell to Wortham, losing 40-27, keeping them winless on the year at 0-3. The Eagles put themselves on the scoreboard first with a touchdown pass to go up 7-0. Rosebud-Lott responded with a 9-yard touchdown run by DeeJayy Hicks to tie the game at 7. The Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse in Marlin on Monday, Sept. 11, with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Lady Cougars swept by Bosquevillle
The Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars volleyball team traveled to take on the Bosqueville Lady Bulldogs on Friday. Rosebud-Lott was defeated by Bosqueville 3-0, losing the first set 25-17, the second set 25-10, and the third set 27-25. Kaitlyn Jenkins played a good game with eight kills, 10 digs, and an assist. Brighton Willberg had a great game with 13 kills and three digs. Kayley Robertson also had a great game with two kills, three digs, two aces, and 18 assists. After a home matchup against the Axtell Lady Horns on Tuesday, the Lady Cougars will stay at home and host the Valley Mills Lady Eagles. The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team traveled to take on the Wortham Bulldogs on Friday. The Cougars fell to Wortham, losing 36-14. The Bulldogs overpowered Rosebud-Lott in the first half, shutting them out 20-0. The Cougars struck first in the second half with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Pryce Rabroker to Carson Kahlig to make the score 20-7. Wortham responded with 16 unanswered points to make the score 36-7. The Cougars scored again in the fourth quarter with a 38-yard touchdown pass from Pryce Rabroker to Jamarquis Johnson to make the score 36-14. However, it was not enough as that would be the final score. Pryce Rabroker played well, throwing for 179 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. Carson Kahlig had a good game, catching two passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. Jamarquis Johnson also had a great game, catching eight passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. The Cougar defense still had a good game, holding the Bulldogs to only 28 total passing yards. Up next for Rosebud-Lott, they will travel to take on the Goldthwaite Eagles. The game will be on Friday and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Cougars did well in the tournament, finishing with a record of 3-3 and placing third in the small school division. Expectations are for the 2023 Texas wine grape season to produce a quality vintage despite some challenges here and there, said Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts. Weather conditions delivered a mixed bag of yield and quality results for Texas rice producers, but volatility in the global rice market could help growers, according to Texas A&M AgriLife experts.
