Cook County Donates Over 900 Clothing Items to Aid New Chicago Residents at New Life Center
In a move that speaks to the enduring spirit of community and resourcefulness in the face of closure, Cook County's Department of Facilities Management has made a significant contribution to the New Life Center. Almost 1,000 new articles of clothing, originally from the now-shuttered Oak Forest Campus Long-Term Care Facility, found a new purpose in supporting new arrivals through the "New Vecinos" team's efforts. This donation, detailed in a press release by Cook County, encompasses 866 pairs of shoes and 81 pairs of pants, set aside from the campus which is slated for partial demolition.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has temporarily shut down recreational boating on the Fox River, according to a letter posted by the IDNR today. High water levels, swift currents, floating debris and submerged structures in the Fox all contributed to the decision, which was recommended by Cpt Joshua Mooi of the IDNR and approved by Director Natalie Phelps-Finnie.

My family would usually order it from our local grocery store after church on Sunday, and it was always a meal I looked forward to. I've had a lot of great fried chicken over the years, so it's quite hard to pick a favorite. Some of the major chains that stick out in my mind are Church's Texas Chicken and Bojangles, but my regular go-to place is the JayC Food Store.
