ROSELLE PARK, NJ — The second Roselle Park Community Cooldown in as many weeks drew a massive crowd to the Department of Public Works, as residents did their best to beat the oppressive heat. The event saw the Roselle Park fire department lend a helping hand, spraying hundreds of gallons of water from their engine and ladder apparatuses into the air, granting residents a much-needed reprieve from the sweltering weather.

The event could not have come at a better time, as the day saw blistering highs of 99°F. The fire department did their best to combat the heat, providing multiple massive streams of water and even a sprinkler for participants to run through. It offered a tremendous opportunity for the fire department to connect with the community that they serve.

“Thank you to the Roselle Park Fire Department for sponsoring the event again this summer.” said Mayor Joe Signorello III. “I hope to see many Roselle Park families come out for a unique and fun evening with our firefighters.”

If you missed the event, you still have time to attend — there will be two more Community Cooldowns on the remaining Tuesdays of July — July 23 and 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. near the Department of Public Works at 180 W. Webster Avenue.
