Thousands expected for girls’ basketball tournament in the Sacramento Region

(FOX40.COM) — Some of the best girls’ basketball players on the West Coast will showcase their skills in Roseville.

The Roebbelen Center @the Grounds will host the End of the Trail (EOT) Finale Showcase from Friday through Sunday. The facility has 12 full-length basketball courts where games will take place.

The three-day tournament will feature about 85 club teams throughout the western region of the United States. There will be several teams from the Sacramento region and also teams traveling from as far as Hawaii, Montana, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Placer Valley Tourism said more than 1,000 middle and high school-aged players will participate in the tournament and over 2,000 of their family members are expected to attend.

The EOT Finale Showcase is considered one of the largest and longest-running tournaments on the West Coast and is one of the only few NCAA-approved club tournaments for girls in California. The tournament allows athletes to showcase their skills to college coaches and recruiters, who are expected to be in attendance for this year’s event.

“You will see a lot of good hoops,” EOT co-owner and tournament director Pat Woodward said in a press release. “There will be some players recruited by Division I schools.”

With thousands of athletes, coaches and parents descending to Roseville, the tournament is expected to generate more than $1 million in revenue for hotels, restaurants and stores in the area, according to Placer Valley Tourism.

“It’s a big tournament for the athletes and area businesses,” Placer Valley Tourism CEO Kim Summers said in a press release. “The tournament is also an opportunity to showcase Placer Valley and the Roebbelen Center, and everything we have to offer.”

The tournament tips off at 1 p.m. on Friday and then 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with games continuing in the evening.

Tickets per day are $20 for adults, $15 for children older than 5 and seniors at least 62 years old. Parking is $10 per day.
