Auburn Grace Community Church Jr. Sewers & Rippers effort yields 118 quilts
During the months of May and June, 61 boys and girls made 118 quilts in two week-long sessions at Auburn Grace Community Church. Jr. Sewers & Rippers has occurred every year since its beginning in 2004 – a project of the Sewers & Rippers Ministry at Auburn Grace Community Church – mentoring children entering third grade up to graduating high school seniors. The Sewers and Rippers Ministry is a nearly 20-year-old ministry that sends quilts to children and adults in need all over the world and within our community.
Jeanette Mero wins Tevis Cup, daugher Reyna finishes second
In her sixth successful ride, Jeanette Mero can finally claim the most coveted title in endurance riding: the Tevis Cup. The Mariposa, CA native completed her 100-mile journey to Auburn's McCann Stadium at 10:05 p.m. Saturday night to win the 68th Tevis Cup, finishing with a final time of 17 hours and five minutes. Mero had been a consistent top ten finisher at Tevis for several years now and won the Haggin Cup in 2021, but a first place finish had eluded her until this year.

SALIDA, Calif. — Two people were found dead inside a Honda Sunday near Salida in what officials believe is the result of a domestic violence situation. According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 6 p.m. Sunday when officers were called about a possible assault with a deadly weapon on the northbound Hammett Road offramp from Highway 99.
