Allen Park takes first steps toward $8.5 million fire station renovations
The Allen Park City Council will soon be considering an $8.5 million project to renovate the fire station and implement a new millage. The city’s current fire station opened in 1969. City Administrator Mark Kibby said there are structural issues, foundation issues, plumbing and electrical issues and a complete lack of technology in the station. Most of all, though, he said there is currently not a locker room facility for the city’s female firefighter.
