On Sale @ Paradise and Brighton Music Hall: Touché Amoré, Surfer Girl, and more
There was a lot to Lament about 2020, but it’s time to move on — for me, you, and Touché Amoré. The Los Angeles post-hardcore band returns this fall with their first new album and tour in four years, unleashing Spiral in a Straight Line in October via Rise Records and crashing Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on November 3. The new record was produced by Ross Robinson and features guests like Boygenius’ Julien Baker and Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr. The first lethal dose of sonic architecture arrives in “Nobody’s,” a firely lead single that sets an immediate tone. “‘Nobody’s’ is the opening track on our upcoming album, Spiral in a Straight Line. In just a handful of lyrics, it gives the broad strokes of the album,” offers up Touché Amoré vocalist Jeremy Bolm. “A song and record about forward movement while everything around you becomes destabilized.” Sounds like 2024. Tickets go on sale Friday (July 26) at 10 a.m. local time.

Scattered afternoon rain expected in Boston with much warmer temperatures
We're turning the corner into warmer temperatures Thursday. With a front passing, we run the risk of a pop-up storm later this afternoon. These storms, or quick showers, don't appear to be widespread or intense, so this is not one of those duck-and-cover setups. Most importantly, the front will switch out airmasses, giving us a push of less humid air at the tail end of the day.

DENVER (AP) — The Boston Red Sox and manager Alex Cora have agreed on a three-year contract extension that runs through the 2027 season. It Was 20 Years Ago Today ... Everything Changed Between the Red Sox and Yankees
A few years ago a group of internet friends I'd picked up along the way but never met in person came to Boston from their home in Buffalo and asked me to grab dinner with them at a sports bar. And as we were hanging out and I was trying to acclimate them to Masshole Culture, I told them that in order to get a liquor license in Massachusetts, you're legally required to have three framed photos up on your wall. One is Bobby Orr's goal to win the 1970 Cup. The other is Larry Bird and Dr. J with their hands around each other's throats. And the third is this one. A while later I got up to hit the men's room and pointed out to them all three pictures, proudly displayed within a few feet of each other. We're nothing if not predictable.
