Scattered afternoon rain expected in Boston with much warmer temperatures
We're turning the corner into warmer temperatures Thursday. With a front passing, we run the risk of a pop-up storm later this afternoon. These storms, or quick showers, don't appear to be widespread or intense, so this is not one of those duck-and-cover setups. Most importantly, the front will switch out airmasses, giving us a push of less humid air at the tail end of the day.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora agrees to 3-year contract extension
DENVER (AP) — The Boston Red Sox and manager Alex Cora have agreed on a three-year contract extension that runs through the 2027 season. It Was 20 Years Ago Today ... Everything Changed Between the Red Sox and Yankees
A few years ago a group of internet friends I'd picked up along the way but never met in person came to Boston from their home in Buffalo and asked me to grab dinner with them at a sports bar. And as we were hanging out and I was trying to acclimate them to Masshole Culture, I told them that in order to get a liquor license in Massachusetts, you're legally required to have three framed photos up on your wall. One is Bobby Orr's goal to win the 1970 Cup. The other is Larry Bird and Dr. J with their hands around each other's throats. And the third is this one. A while later I got up to hit the men's room and pointed out to them all three pictures, proudly displayed within a few feet of each other. We're nothing if not predictable.

Every cell in your body has a thin covering of carbohydrates called glycoconjugates—"conjugates" as they're formed when the carbohydrates are chemically connected to proteins, lipids and other cell surface molecules.
Third man pleads guilty in connection with threats and vandalism targeting New Hampshire journalists
BOSTON (AP) — A third man has pleaded guilty to federal charges in connection with threats and vandalism targeting public radio journalists in New Hampshire. Prosecutors allege that four men were involved in a plot to vandalize the homes of New Hampshire Public Radio news director Daniel Barrick, reporter Lauren Chooljian and Chooljian’s parents in 2022 in retaliation for a report detailing sexual misconduct allegations against a prominent businessman. Eric Labarge, 46, of Nashua, New Hampshire, was accused of soliciting others or conspiring with them to throw rocks and bricks through the journalists’ windows and spray paint threats and obscenities on their homes. He pleaded guilty Tuesday in Boston to five charges including stalking and conspiracy to commit stalking and faces up to five years in prison on each charge when he is sentenced Oct. 18. Two other men — Tucker Cockerline and Michael Waselchuck — pleaded guilty previously and are awaiting sentencing. The fourth, Keenan Saniatan, is expected to go on trial Sept. 9.
