Crime Blotter for The Week of July 24
The NCPD First Squad reports the arrest of a New Jersey man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, July 13, at 4:30 p.m. in Baldwin. According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at Coes Neck Park located at 1240 Coes Neck Road. Upon arrival, officers were informed that defendant Horace Rattigan, 36, of 15 Montclair Avenue, Paterson was involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 39, and removed the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene on foot. Officers located the defendant nearby and attempted to place him into custody. Defendant Rattigan became violent and combative, and after a brief struggle, officers were able to secure the defendant. An officer sustained an injury during the course of the arrest and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Further investigation revealed the defendant had violated an active order of protection. Defendant Horace Rattigan is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree grand larceny, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was arraigned on Sunday, July 14, at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
